How Much Do They Make?

A review of HHWA, IUJAT, and related organizations’ Department of Labor filings makes clear that several members of the Elliott family, along with other officers and leaders, have been on the payroll of multiple related organizations:

  • In 2022, Steve Elliott Sr.’s salaries added up to $565,972.  In addition to being President Emeritus of HHWA, he was also simultaneously President of IUJAT, Vice President of IUJAT Local 726 and took a salary from IUJAT’s United Welfare Fund.

  • Lori Ames, Steve Elliott’s daughter, took home $619,037 in 2022 as Secretary Treasurer of HHWA and President of the United Service Workers Union (USWU).

  • Steven Elliott Jr. was paid $417,592 in 2022 as an employee of IUJAT’s benefits fund, HHWA’s Vice President of technology and as a trustee of IUJAT.

  • Jonathan Ames, Lori Ames’ husband, made $418,992 in 2022 as Vice President of HHWA, Executive Vice President of USWU, Vice President of IUJAT and Vice President of IUJAT Local 726. In 2023, Jonathan Ames took over Steven Elliott’s position as president of the IUJAT.

HHWA’s other officers and employees also hold multiple jobs in the IUJAT network and take home multiple salaries:

  • Joseph Pecora, HHWA’s President, was paid $439,120 in 2022 - $117,623 from HHWA and $321,497 from the United Welfare Fund, where IUJAT claims he works as the Fund’s full-time administrator.

  • Troy Anderson, one of HHWA’s vice presidents, was also IUJAT’s Director of Transportation and a business agent at USWA. He made $417,692 in 2022

  • Charles Shimkus, took home $396,298 in 2022 as field representative for HHWA and organizing director for IUJAT and the United Service Workers.

  • Connor Shaw, was an organizer at HHWA while also acting as IUJAT’s assistant political director. He was paid a modest $177,250.
